Today I'm interviewing Joost Callens of Caminogroep and Durabrik: "We want to be a second home for our employees." Joost illustrates that an office building can be more than just a workplace: a courtyard to relax, a sports facility to energize, even a quiet place to breathe.

Joost also shares his 5 tips for more balance in your personal life and how he structurally integrates them into his company.

> take half an hour every day for your personal mental hygiene: small daily rituals

> let yourself be challenged and regularly look for a new good personal coach

> really dare to look in that mirror and connect with what you feel

Nature as a source of inspiration that holds many strategic answers and brings you the best ideas. Theory "U": stop downloading all the data you know. The extra dimension lies in connecting all that data by inspiring yourself and feeling its impact on you, and then going into nature where you can connect everything.

> take a longer break, e.g. take some courses or make the trek to Santiago

He also discusses the impact of social media on the younger generation and the constant "online" experience on each of us. He also discusses how leaders can act to strengthen balance, trust, and psychological safety among their employees. He also discusses the importance of being mindful of and accommodating emotions in a management meeting. He also discusses how, in a challenging sector, to avoid cost-cutting while still focusing on the right strategy. He also discusses how organizational and personal constellations can be utilized.

Some powerful quotes from the conversation:

• Don't cut back on welfare – even in times of crisis: "Companies that stick to their strategic choices will recover faster."

• “A company can only grow if its people grow.”

• “It's not a sprint, it's a marathon. You have to take care of yourself – that's everyone's responsibility.”

• "When I feel that I am straying from my Ikigai , the convergence of my mission, calling & passion, then it is a moment to connect with it more closely again. ... Earthly life, the energy here, is used up day after day, you better do it consciously and with the right inner compass."

• "Self-development is central to our strategic model. I believe that companies that fully commit to this will develop a clear values narrative and a clear purpose, mission, vision, and ambitions, which will then be more widely supported. That's when you can truly differentiate yourself from your competitors. That's a tipping point for many companies."
