Part I
In this first part of the interview with the West Flemish SME BO-Solutions, almost a Factory of the Future, learn how CEO Nancy Van Damme successfully attracts and retains the right employees even in a difficult market.
Topics covered include the importance of good top-down and bottom-up communication, how to get employees on board with the "customer is king" philosophy, and how to encourage them to adopt the necessary growth mindset.
Part II
Nancy achieves balance through certain work that has a relaxing effect, such as creative social media work on the weekend or networking during the week. For her, balance lies in alternating busy months with months that offer plenty of time for relaxation. This makes her happy because her work is very fulfilling, primarily through extensive social contact, connection, and, above all, satisfaction. She gets this from the abundance of positive feedback in her network. The social pillar also recharges her personal life, through time with family and friends. This makes her work very energizing. She is much more empowered by working with ecosystems, such as consultants.
Her husband, co-CEO of their family business, helps her define and set boundaries, sometimes say "no," and not rush things. She's learned lessons over the past six months, including more downtime and vacation, so she can start the second half of the year full of energy. This is partly because she can delegate a lot to her employees with complete confidence. Hiring the right employees who truly fit their company culture is essential for creating the right team.
She uses her intuition and feminine leadership, for example, in selecting the right team and guiding them, and complements her husband well in the business operations. Failure is okay, as long as you grow.
